Touch and Go at Isla Grande
After more than one month without flying, on Sunday, December 6th, 2009 returned to the yoke. This time brought Correy Shelly with me for a short ride from Isla Grande to Arecibo and back to Isla Grande.
Back at Isla Grande we executed a touch and go. I know Correy from VATSIM where we shared the scopes as Virtual Air Traffic Controllers. He also enjoys flying in Flight Simulator. He has great interest for aviation and I knew he was going to enjoy this flight a lot. The following is a video of the Tough andGo at Isla Grande. The day was beutiful. Enjoy the following video.

My old friend Cessna 172s N2107U was booked for Sunday, so asked for my other old friend Cessna 172R N24461. Onfortunatelly the N24461 can carry aprox 100 pounds less than the N2107U. Since I am big (I basically count as two passangers!), I was unable to take more than one passanger with me this time. At my arrival at Isla Grande found out N2107U was available but the fuel tanks were full. With full tanks, we were going to be overweight with two passangers anyway.
The weather was somewhat unstable. Durign my preflight, the day cleared and we were taking off few minutes before noon. After doing a left downwind departure and passing El Morro, requested frequency change and tuned into Departure. After waiting for several minutes for Approach load to decrease, called the Controller for Flight Following services to Arecibo. He gave the Sqwak Code right away and we headed to the Dorado practice area. Once there, did couple of 360s and then headed to Arecibo. Cancelled the flight following and went into 122.8 to report 10 miles E of Arecibo for touch and go. Entered left downwind RNW8 and completed the touch and go...little hard. Its clear that I need to flying regularly to keep my skills sharp! After the touch and go at Arecibo, we headed back to Isla Grande where we performed one final touch ang go.
